The Help line status is updated on this page throughout the day. 

Help line wait times

As at 4:00pm (AEST) on Friday 17 August 2018, average call wait times are: 

  • Enquiries about opt-out: less than 1 minute
  • Complex enquiries: 2 minutes

Complex enquiries include:  

  • help to cancel a record 
  • assistance to manage your My Health Record
  • opt out people not on your Medicare card 

Please have your Medicare Card, or Department of Veteran’s Affairs (DVA) card with you.

If the Help line is busy and you do not wish to wait in the queue, please call back at another time.

You have until 15 November 2018 to opt out.

If you have lost your Medicare card, or don't know your Medicare number, contact Medicare first to find out your details

Note that you may experience wait times when contacting the Department of Human Services call centre.
